A DAY IN ST ANDREWS
After leaving Edinburgh we journey across the FORTH ROAD BRIDGE, enjoying
views of the magnificent FORTH RAIL BRIDGE, into the KINGDOM OF FIFE. Our
scenic route takes us along the coast and round the East Neuk of Fife, calling at either PITTENWEEM or ANSTRUTHER,
two of the area’s most interesting and picturesque fishing villages also noted for the best “Fish & Chips” in Scotland.
When we arrive in ST. ANDREWS you will have three hours at leisure to explore the town’s many attractions, from the
ruins of the 13th century Castle to Scotland’s oldest university. ST. ANDREWS is also renowned as the HOME OF
GOLF, with four courses including the world famous OLD COURSE and the BRITISH GOLF MUSEUM, which is well
worth a visit. After we have enjoyed ourselves in this fascinating town, we depart St. Andrews and make our way to
SOUTH QUEENSFERRY. This small town dates back to the 13th Century, here you will have the option to walk in
the Old Town, visit the Hawes Inn featured in Robert Louis Stevenson’s “Kidnapped”, marvel at the great engineering
feat of the two bridges. The Forth Rail Bridge is the
largest cantilever bridge in the world.
